Shereen Almadhon has a bachelor's degree in English language and literature from the Applied Sciences University in Amman, Jordan. She has worked as an assistant teacher at Al-Jubaiha Secondary School in Amman and worked as a receptionist at the English-language Modern Language Center, also in Amman. She is fluent in Spanish, Arabic and English. Shereen is the program coordinator for the English as a Second Language (ESL) program at American National University in the Roanoke Valley.

Jayne currently serves as the Department Chair of the Computer Applications Technology program at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus. She also serves on the College Academic Committee and the Institutional Academic Committee.

She has taught for 23 years in the public schools system and currently works in the Department of Gifted and Advanced Programs for Roanoke City Schools. She has been an instructor of multiple courses in the English and Math departments since 2002 at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus.

Dr. Debbie Brassell received her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and has been providing speech-language services in different educational, hospital, and clinical settings for 35 years. She also holds a PhD in Healthcare Administration and a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, as well as an Executive JD Degree specializing in health care law. Debbie has led a research project in Dublin, Ireland, working with children with Autism and Down Syndrome; obtained a Graduate Certificate in Hippotherapy and developed a Hippotherapy Program in Bedford, Virginia, using horses to achieve rehabilitation goals with children and adults; and authored a book: Alzheimer's Disease: Survivor or Victim? Know the Facts, dedicated to her grandmother. She has been an instructor since 2005 at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus.

Annette Chamberlin has served in a variety of positions within the business community, including Health Care Consultant, Vice President of Field Operations, Regional Director of Operations and Management, Marketing Director, Retail Consultant, Merchandising Consultant, and Buyer Strategist and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for several local businesses. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Roanoke College, a Master of Business Administration degree from Averett University, a Master of Arts degree in History from Virginia Tech, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. Annette serves as chair of the Master's Program at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus and has delivered several professional seminars and talks on management and teaching for professional organizations. She is an instructor of management, organizational behavior, leadership, and business policy courses.

Patricia Eby holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, a Certified Disability Management Specialist, a Licensed Clinical Nurse Specialist, and a Registered Nurse. She has 7 years of experience in trauma nursing, outpatient clinical experience in cardiology and orthopedics, and over 20 years of medical and vocational case management. Patricia is coordinator of an area-wide rehabilitation networking breakfast; past president of both the Virginia Association of Rehab Nurses and the Virginia Association of Rehabilitation professionals; on the steering committee for the Roanoke Area Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities; and has served on boards for the Council of Community Services. She is a healthcare instructor for the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus.

He previously served for 20 years as a teacher and counselor in the Roanoke City and County Public Schools.

Shobhana has earned several technology certificates, such as CompTia A+, Mastering Web Application Development using visual interdev 6.0, and creating and managing web solutions using Frontpage 2000. George has served in a variety of management and accounting positions in the business and not-for-profit sectors, has owned a travel agency and a real estate business, and was a realtor licensed in the state of Virginia. Mathew received his Bachelor of Science degree in management from Brigham Young University and his Master of Business Administration degree from Virginia Tech. He teaches business, marketing, and management courses and is chair of the business management programs for the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus and the Online program. Mathew is also an ACICS evaluator and performs accreditation visits at other colleges across the country.

Jack Guilliams has been an instructor in the EMT Paramedic Department at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus since 2010. Jack has thirty four years of experience as an EMS, First Aid, and CPR instructor and 37 years of experience as an EMS provider and evaluator.

As an owner of Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home, Michael Hamlar has been highly influenced by a family who has a well-known legacy of business professionals, community leaders, and entrepreneurs. Michael serves on numerous boards such as CHIP (Child Health Improvement Partnership), Family Services of Roanoke, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, and the Legislative Advocacy Committee with the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce. Recognized by The Blue Ridge Journal as one of the "Top 20 leaders under 40," Mike has a true love for business and enjoys being on the cutting edge of change. In 2009, he partnered with his wife to found Hamlar Enterprises, a business brokerage and consulting firm that serves clients within Roanoke and beyond. Michael received his bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University where he was a Seattle Bowl champion for the Demon Deacons. To enrich his knowledge of the funeral business, he also obtained an associate degree from mortuary school at John Tyler Community College. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Liberty University and is pursuing his Doctorate in Business Administration from Walden University. Michael is an instructor of business management courses at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus.

Connie Herman has extensive experience in education as a Reading Specialist and English and writing teacher. She now teaches English and writing courses at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Reading and Education, as well as a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Curriculum and Instruction and School Leadership. She is also certified in Gifted Education. Connie is a Fulbright Scholar and a National Writing Project consultant and remains active in public education as a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia State Reading Organization, as well as maintaining membership in many professional education organizations.

He is an instructor of computer and general education courses at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus, where he has also served as Faculty Advisor to the Student Activities Council (SAC) and was a co-founder and charter member of the National Eagles Toastmasters (NETC).

He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Bank Auditor (CBA). He teaches accounting courses in the master's and undergraduate programs at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus.

Linda Slough

Linda D. Slough is a solo practitioner who practices claimant's workers' compensation law. She graduated from James Madison University and the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. She is admitted to practice in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Linda is an instructor of paralegal courses at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus and has been a speaker at continuing legal education seminars. In addition, she is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and has been included in the Best Lawyers in America since 2009. Her office was also listed by US News and World Report as a Best Law Firm for 2010 and 2011. Linda was listed in The Roanoker magazine as a top attorney in Roanoke in 2009 and 2011. In 2012, she was listed in Virginia Living magazine as a Legal Eagle in workers' compensation law in Southwest Virginia.

Gail van Duursen has served as Academic Dean of American National University since the fall of 2009. She brought a diverse background of experience to her position: serving as an Adjunct Instructor with the college for four years, over three years as a Career Development Counselor, and over twenty-five years of customer service in the hospitality industry. Gail's credentials have also prepared her to deliver critical professional services to her students in her role as Academic Dean. She holds a Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior degree with a specialization in Training and Development from Silver Lake College (WI), a Bachelor of Science degree in a business-related field from Florida State University (FL), is certified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and is trained as a Career Development Facilitator.

MJ is a Registered Nurse and a Registered Medical Assistant and has an Associate of Applied Science degree from Wytheville Community College. She is an active member of AMAA and AMT.

Get directions to American National Unviersity's Roanoke, VA Campus

From Exit 141 of Interstate 81, exit south on Route 419 (Electric Road) and turn left at the second traffic light, which is East Main Street (Route 460).

From Salem, come east on Main Street just two blocks past the Electric Road intersection, and from Roanoke, come west on Melrose Avenue, just into the city of Salem.

From the south, take Route 419 north, right on Route 460 two blocks and turn left on Hillmont Drive to the visitor parking lots.
