The Louisville Campus is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). ABHES is recognized by the United States Secretary of Education for the accreditation of private, postsecondary institutions in the United States offering predominantly allied health education programs.

Through American National University - Salem (Roanoke Valley), separately accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission, students have access to multiple online programs through Distance Education eLearning formats.

Directions to the Louisville KY location:
From anywhere in Kentuckiana, we're easy to find. Traveling on the Watterson Expressway (264 West) to Dixie Highway - Shively exit (8B). Take a quick right onto Herbert Avenue. Turn right into our parking lot or after exiting Shively exit 8B, proceed to the first stop light and turn right onto Garrs Lane. Turn right again at the end of lane. Go to stop sign, turn right again onto-Herbert Avenue. Turn left into our parking lot.

Our Faculty at a Glance

Luis Alicea-Batlle has been an instructor in the Business Department at the National College Louisville Campus for the past four years. He also serves as an instructor through classroom-conferencing for the Harrisonburg Campus. Luis holds a Master of Science degree in Management from Oakland City University, Oakland City, IN; a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration/Organization from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, MI; and an Associate degree in General Education from Troy State University, Troy, AL. Luis is a U.S. Army veteran, having served 21 years of active duty and 9 years of reserve time. While in the Army, he held positions as Drill Sergeant, Drill Sergeant Academy Instructor, and Leadership Academy Instructor. Luis has had civilian work experience in resource management, advertisement sales, car sales, and human resource management/coordinating. He has been instructing college-level courses since 2007.
Department Chair - Accounting

Mark Carlisle has served in a variety of positions in the financial services industry, including as a financial analyst, a commercial lender, in numerous types of accountant/auditing roles, and he has written several banking administrative "how to" manuals. Mark received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Vanderbilt University, his Advanced Accounting Certificate from Bellarmine University, a Master of Arts degree in Finance, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Webster University. Mark is presently working on earning a Master's degree in Accounting from the University of Louisville. He is a member of the American Accounting Association and is an instructor and Accounting Department Chair for the Louisville Campus, where he primarily teaches a wide range of accounting courses along with selected business and history courses.

Niles Charlet has been an instructor with National College since April of 2005. She has taught an array of courses in the fields of business, English, and general education. Niles holds an Associate and Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies from Sullivan University, a Master's degree in Business Management, and a Certificate in English/Language Arts from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Theresa Collins has worked in the medical field for more than 20 years. She has a master's degree in Counseling from Capella University, a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Sullivan University, an Associate degree in Medical Assisting and a diploma in Pharmacy Technician from National College, and an Associate degree in Human Services-Counseling from Jefferson Community College. Theresa is currently certified as a Medical Assistant and Pharmacy Technician. She is an instructor of courses such as Introduction to Pharmacology, Healthcare Law & Ethics, Pharmacy System of Operations, and Pharmacy Practice at the National College Louisville Campus.
Department Chair - Bachelor Business Management

Theosious Fuqua has served in a variety of positions in the business industry, including district accounting manager, operations manager, inventory control manager, project manager, executive director of procurement, and account executive in advertising. He has been an instructor for more than 17 years and is presently the Business Department chair for the Louisville campus. Theosious received his bachelor's degree in business administration from McKendree College, as well as an MBA and DBA from Wakefield University. He teaches economics, marketing, business law, principles of management, organiztional behavior, organizational management and leadership, and introduction to business courses.
Department Chair - Health Care Management
MBA, BSN, RN, CNOR
Michele Harbin has worked in the medical field for more than 26 years and is presently a corporate nurse educator with a major healthcare system. Michele received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University and her MBA in Healthcare Management from the University of Phoenix. She is the Healthcare Management Department Chair at the National College Louisville Campus and is an instructor of Healthcare Management courses. Michele has held various clinical, management, and educator positions in the surgical healthcare setting. She has been a Board Certified Registered Nurse of the Operating Room since 1990. She was the recipient of the Nurse of the Year award from a previous employer, as well as the Top 100 Leaders Distinguished Alumni Award from Vanderbilt University.
Elizabeth Head has over 18 years of supervisory management experience and over 5 years in Health Information Management. She currently works for a large regional hospital as a medical coder/billing specialist. She also teaches Health Information Technology courses at the Louisville Campus.
Patricia Henderson has over 12 years of experience working at a local healthcare facility as a medical coder/billing specialist. She is a Certified Professional Coder and currently teaches Medical Insurance courses at the Louisville Campus.
Shanita John has worked in the medical field for over 15 years and is an instructor at the National College Louisville Campus. She has an Associate in Applied Science Degree from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, as well as a Clinical Medical Assistant Diploma. Shanita has worked overseas at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and was officially commended for superior performance as a Health Technician from the Department of the Army. She teaches invasive procedures, medical office procedures, and other medical courses.
Aquila Johnson has served in several positions in the financial arena for over 21 years. Aquila received her bachelor's degree in business from University of Louisville, and her master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan. She is an instructor at National College's Louisville Campus and teaches principles of accounting, payroll accounting, computerized accounting, intermediate accounting, and income taxes.
Director of Health Care Education
Bonnie Kiefer has worked in the medical field for over 30 years, including time spent as a nursing assistant, clinical assistant, medical secretary, medical assistant, and as an instructor and mentor. She is a graduate in Medical Assisting from National College and currently serves as the Director of Health Care Education for the Louisville Campus.
Director of IT Programs

Terry Newby is a Louisville native and graduated from Morehead State University and Xavier University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science, and a Master of Business Administration degree. He is a U.S. Navy veteran. Terry serves as Director of IT programs at National College's Louisville Campus.
Juan Sandoval has over 20 years of experience in the IT field, serving mainly as a Systems Architect, a Systems Engineer, a Database Designer, and a Software Developer. He holds a Master of Arts degree and a Master of Science degree. Juan currently teaches upper level Information Systems Engineering courses at the Louisville Campus.
