Where Are You Located?

Our campuses are easy to get to, offer ample parking, and with our eLearning options you may even be able to take classes from home.

Directions to the Lynchburg VA location:

From Amherst (North), Follow 29 South, which turns into 501 North to Exit 10B (460 West Business, Timberlake Road). Once on Timberlake Road go through 4 traffic lights. Candlewood Court is on the right side of the road at the fifth light (between Wendy's and a bank). Take the second drive on the right to National College.

From Bedford (West), Follow 460 to the 460 Business (Timberlake Road) exit. Once on Timberlake go to the 8th traffic light and turn left onto Candlewood Court (there is a Wendy's and a bank). National College is the second drive on the right.

From the south and east, Follow 460 W to the "Airport Road to Greenview Drive" exit (there is no exit number). Turn right off the exit ramp. Go to the second light (at Kentucky Fried Chicken) and then turn right onto Timberlake Road. Turn left onto Candlewood Court at the second light. National College is the second drive on the right.

Elizabeth Ayers - Instructor

Elizabeth Ayers



Elizabeth Ayers received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Lynchburg College and worked as a mental health counselor for 5 years. She then obtained her state and national pharmacy technician certifications and has worked as a certified pharmacy technician (CPhT) for 7 years. She teaches in the pharmacy technician program at ANU's Lynchburg Campus.

Judith Bateman - Instructor

Judith Bateman



Judith Bateman holds a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and a master's degree in Industrial Management. She has worked in various hospitals throughout her career, culminating with a position she held for seven years in the UVA Medical Center Virology/Microbiology Department. She previously served as a Research and Development Microbiologist/QA Microbiologist for 20 years. Judith has been an instructor at the Lynchburg Campus since 2009.

Michal Bucklew - Instructor

Michal Bucklew


Medical Coding Career Studies Certificatation, Medical Assistant Certification

Michal Bucklew has been working in the field of medical billing and coding for over 20 years. She has worked for Medicare as a claims processor and has worked in billing and coding for a regional hospital. Michal is currently working in a large medical office as a medical coder and biller. She holds certifications in Medical Coding Career Studies and Medical Assisting. Michal is an instructor of Medical Billing and Coding Procedures and Guidelines courses at the Lynchburg Campus.

Debra Caldwell - Instructor

Debra Caldwell



Debra Caldwell has worked in the field of education for more than 25 years and is presently a teacher with a local school system. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Lynchburg College and holds a teaching certificate from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Debra is an instructor of general education courses at the Lynchburg Campus.

Sue Coleman - Director of Health Care Education

Director of Health Care Education


Sue Coleman is a graduate of the Lynchburg General Hospital Nursing program and the National College Medical Assisting program. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse and currently serves as Director of Health Care Education for the Lynchburg Campus.

Pamela Hooper - Director of IT Programs

Pamela Hooper

Director of IT Programs

BM, MIT, CompTIA A+, Network+, MCDST

Pamela Hooper has worked in the IT field for over 15 years. She holds a master's degree in Information Technology from Virginia Tech. Pamela teaches troubleshooting software/hardware, server administration, HTML, and other computer-related courses and also serves as Director of Information Technology programs at the Lynchburg Campus.

Karen Jarrett - Instructor

Karen Jarrett has taught computer, psychology, ethics, and logic courses for the past 10 years. She has experience working in business and worked for a pharmaceutical company for several years. Karen holds an associate degree in Business and Accounting, a bachelor's degree in Psychology, and a master's degree in Liberal Arts with a Computer concentration.

Kristy-Leigh Tatum - Instructor

Kristy-Leigh Tatum



Kristy-Leigh Tatum holds an associate degree in performing arts general studies from Patrick Henry Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in world history with an emphasis on culture, and a Master of Arts degree in liberal studies with an emphasis on socio-psychological history from Empire State College. She has worked in business offices as a receptionist, administrative assistant, office manager, and assistant to director. She volunteers as a local Girl Scout leader and a trainer for new leaders. She also has served on the PTO as a Vice President, Newsletter Editor, and the Performing Arts Chair. She is an instructor at the Lynchburg Campus where she has taught Prep English, Prep Math, English Composition, Business Communication, Oral Communication, and Psychology.

Jane Wright - Pharmacy Technician Department Chair

Jane Wright is a graduate of Medical College of Virginia and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Pharmacy and Biology. Her pharmacy work experience has included hospital, independent community, compounding, long term care, and chain community practice settings. Jane has been a faculty member at the Lynchburg Campus since 2002, where she is an instructor of general education, medical, and pharmacy courses and serves as Department Chair of the Pharmacy Technician program.
