Where Are You Located?

Our campuses are easy to get to, offer ample parking, and with our eLearning options you may even be able to take classes from home.

Directions to the Youngstown OH location:

From I-80, take Exit 229 and head south on Belmont Ave (OH 193) approximately ½ mile. The campus will be on the left in the Belmont Plaza Shopping Center.

From I-76, take Exit 234 to I-680 North toward Youngstown. Take exit 4A to merge onto OH-193 N toward US-422, then take the M L King Jr Blvd/US-422 W/OH-193 N/OH-289 exit to OH-193 N/Wirt St N. Follow this route approximately 1 mile, taking a slight left at Belmont Ave. The campus is approximately 1-1/2 miles on the right in the Belmont Plaza Shopping Center.

Kim Akins


Kim Akins is a licensed, practicing attorney in the State of Ohio, practicing in the areas of criminal, civil, and family law. She has acted as a City Prosecutor and Assistant Law Director for the City of Youngstown and an Administrative Hearing Officer for the State of Ohio. Kim is an instructor at the National College Youngstown Campus.

Robert Johnson - Director of IT Programs

Robert Johnson has worked in the IT field for more than 15 years in industries covering several areas, including appliance, automotive, and education. He has held several IT positions from IT Project Manager, Network Administrator, to Web developer. During his time in IT, he has also conducted corporate training to showcase new features of software and systems. Robert received his Bachelor of Science degree in Technology from Kent State University and holds several IT certifications, including CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCSA2003, and MCT. He currently teaches courses in the Computer and Information Systems Engineering programs at the Youngstown and Cleveland Area Campuses, where he also serves as Director of IT Programs.

Rodney Mishler - Instructor

Rodney Mishler



Rod Mishler is a CPA who teaches Income Tax, Principles of Accounting, Payroll Accounting, and Computerized Accounting. As a practicing CPA, he provides the accounting services and tax preparation of businesses, individuals, and non-profit organizations. He has had the opportunity in his career to serve as chief financial officer and treasurer of midsized corporations giving him experience in both the private and public sector. Rod also volunteers his time as a professional to advise community associations as an elected board member.

Paula Muir - Instructor

Paula Muir



Paula Muir holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration and is a Registered Health Information Technician. She has worked in the traditional Acute Care setting for over 30 years, with 25 of those years having been devoted to Health Information Management (HIM) as the Director and 5 years were as Director of Clinical Support and Physician Services as well as Performance Improvement and Reengineering. She also worked for 4 years as Director of Transcription Services (HIM) for an Outsourcing Company. Paula has served as an instructor at Kent State University and Trumbull County Joint Vocational School, as well as an independent HIM consultant. She currently teaches the Health Information Technology core classes at the National College Youngstown Campus.

Deb Romeo

Director of Surgical Technology


Deb Romeo is a Certified Surgical Technologist with 16 years of experience in the main Operating Room and as a private scrub. She currently serves as Director of the Surgical Technology program at the National College Youngstown Campus.

Daemon  Schmitzer - Instructor

Daemon Schmitzer



Daemon Schmitzer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Conservation from Kent State University and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science from Youngstown State University. He was an instructor of Environmental Science lab courses at Youngstown State University. Daemon is currently an instructor at the National College Youngstown Campus.

Lisa Stoutemire - Clinical Coordinator Surgical Technology

Clinical Coordinator Surgical Technology


Lisa Stoutemire has 19 years of experience in the medical field. She obtained a Certificate in Surgical Technology at Choffin School of Surgical Technology and maintains National Certification in Surgical Technology through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. As the Clinical Coordinator for the Surgical Technology program at the Youngstown Campus, she is responsible for the general success of the student's clinical experience, as they work in the hospital setting. Lisa provides classroom and lab instruction for Surgical Technology core classes. She obtains new clinical sites, as well as maintaining current sites and works closely with each student and the Program Director to make certain each student meets all externship requirements. Lisa is also an instructor at the Akron Area Campus.

Brett Tipton - Instructor

Brett Tipton



Brett A. Tipton has taught speech, writing, and management courses at various colleges for over ten years. He has been a member of Toastmasters International and served as Vice President of Membership for Tree City Toastmasters. Brett holds a Master of Arts degree in communication and rhetoric from the University of Akron.

Charles Willson - Instructor

Charles Willson



Charles Willson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy and a Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Administration. He progressed from Associate Pharmacy Director to Director of Materials Management and Administrator on Call in Philadelphia, PA; he has worked as a pharmacist and Pharmacy Director in 3 hospitals in Northeast Ohio; and he has managed a retail pharmacy for Rite Aid. Charles also developed Boaz Homes, a rental property management business and developed a real estate sales practice. He is currently working in pharmacy compounding while managing 25 rentals and a real estate sales practice. He is an instructor of pharmacy and business courses at the National College Youngstown and Akron Area Campuses.

Veronica Zurcher - Director of Health Care Education

Veronica Zurcher has worked in the medical field for 22 years. Veronica has worked for Twinsburg Family Practice of the Cleveland Clinic and Children's Hopital Physicians Associates of the Akron's Childrens Hospital. Veronica obtained her Bachelor of Science in Applied Science Degree from Youngstown State University and is a Certified Medical Assistant with the AAMA. Veronica is a three year counselor with the Tri-County Medical Assistants Association. She teaches medical adminstrative and finance, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. She is also responsible for the Medical Assisting Externships and the Phlembotomy Externships.
