Business Administration Students and Graduates Benefit from Schumpeter Partnership
May 13, 2013
Schumpeter Consulting, LLC has been an integral part of the student success in the business administration-management and accounting programs at the Charlottesville Campus. Since the partnership formed between the campus and Schumpeter in 2011, the accounting and bookkeeping services firm has welcomed many students in their office as externs for a chance to get hands-on experience in the career field they are working towards. In addition to offering a great externship experience, many National College graduates have been hired at Shumpeter Consulting.
John Donohue, Schumpeter’s managing director, is also an instructor in the campus’s business department. His professional experience gives students a good perspective of what to expect when they enter their new careers. He has a passion for education and developing others and his students benefit from his business connections and knowledge that he shares in the classroom.
Norman Grooms, a recent graduate of the business administration-management program, is one of the National College graduates to benefit from the Schumpeter partnership – in a unique way. He was a student in several of John’s classes, and as a result, a business partnership was established. Norman had started a small business providing landscaping and home improvement services and John hired him to perform services at his residence. He was quite pleased with the product.
Based upon John’s interest in Norman’s business venture, a formal business arrangement was made between the two, with John as an investor in the company’s startup ventures. As a result, Norman was able to formally establish a corporation for Grooms Home Improvement/Lawn and Tree Services.
“The establishment of the Grooms corporation is a perfect example of how partnering can benefit all parties,” said John as he expressed enthusiasm for the business venture. Norman is equally enthusiastic for the new partnership: “I can’t thank Mr. Donohue enough for the support and guidance that Schumpeter Consulting provided during this process…holding this certificate is such a special moment for me and my team.”
As a result of their support of National College and career education, the campus named Schumpeter Consulting as a Distinguished Community Employer.
